When I inspect *.VOB files from DVD movies with e.g. Gspot or MediaInfo or other info tools then the resolution is always displayed as
720 x 576
However they also have an aspect ratio of 16:9
So shouldn't be the valid resolution
720 x 408 (=rounded(720 * 9 / 16)) ?
Moreover when I encode such *.VOBs with various tools with a resolution of 720 x 576 (or let the encoding tool auto-decide/auto-detect)
then the resulting *.avi is distorted.
So why have so many (all) *.VOBs a resolution of 720 x 576 ???
