the AviSynth menu in the main dialog modifies only special regions in the AviSynth script. A region looks like this:

the benefit is the script can be modified manually and after that still be changed with the menu without loosing the manuall changes if they are outside of the menu regions. The other benefit is the filter order can be changed by moving the regions. Like in previous versions menu items can be changed with Ctrl+Leftclick, additionally it's now possible to edit the menu in the settings dialog including moving and renaming categories
