Fedora 19 sorgt für kleine Katastrophen
Erst ein Umlaut, und dann auch noch ein Apostroph im Release-Namen ... dass "Schrödinger's Cat" nebenbei auch noch für ein Quantenparadoxon steht, fällt dabei nicht mal mehr ins Gewicht, wenn die Auswirkungen auf den Fedora-Bugtracker und GRUB schon bedenklich handfest sind; immerhin haben Apostrophe oder Anführungszeichen je nach Variante teilweise deutlich unterschiedliche Wirkungen in Linux-Konsolen.
Kurz darauf fragte man sich schon, ob es den Aufwand wert sei, die Veröffentlichung bis zur Prüfung und Korrektur aller denkbaren Tools anzuhalten, oder doch lieber einfach wieder zur Beschränkung auf einfache lateinische Buchstaben in Release-Namen zurückzukehren.
Und wie das mit Problemen dieser Größenordnung so ist, gibt es immer einige Trolle, die das Thema extrapolieren und für das nächste Release gleich die Verwendung von Unicode-Zeichen empfehlen, bis hin zu Emoji-Zeichen...

Ubuntu hat nun auch Kernel 3.11 im Programm, auch für die Version 12.04 LTS (= "Long Term Support").
Leider ist diese Kombination wohl nicht ausreichend getestet: Die Kernel-Treiber für nvidia-304 oder nvidia-319 mögen sich da nicht bauen lassen (DKMS make.log), weil "ein leerer Wert nicht ignoriert wird, wie er sollte". Anscheinend kein unbekannter Fehler.
