    für meinen geschmack zu hohe werte (ich nehme 10%) Xvid reagiert langsamer auf over & underflows gefahr von zugrossen oder kleinen output.

    Aber durch die 20 % overflow Control Strenght müsste xvid die gewünschte größe gut treffen. (findes aber nich optimal)

    achso um noch zum thema dieses threads etwas loszuwerden hatte jahrelang divx für dvd backups benutzt habe zwischenzeitlich so alle 6 monate xvid ausprobiert aber erst ab 1.0.x bin ich ins xvid lager gewechselt

    habe selber die quali der beiden bei gleichen settings verglichen und für mich persönlich ist xvid einfach perfekt bessere Quali, kostenlos was will man mehr!

    nein. Im firstpass werden doch die overflow Einträge garnicht ausgewertet. Im secondpass stehen die 10% drin.

    scheiße habs jetzt erst selber gecheckt das 10% alls overflow werte in der settings datei "0a" ergeben und 20% = 14(wieso eigentlicht?) danke katjarella hab wieder was gelernt

    Hallo Leute
    Pfuuhh, hab hier eine richtig heiße Diskusion angeworfen.
    Dabei wollte ich nur wissen, ob der Compressibility-Test mit
    Xvid vertrauenswürdig ist. *g*
    Ich weiß, das der Test ist nur ein Richtwert ist.
    Mit Divx konnte ich es ja sehr gut abschätzen. Mich hat halt nur
    die Differenz von ca. 20% stutzig gemacht.

    Weiters konnte ich bei meinen Versuchen das Argument
    - "Xvid encoded schneller als Divx" - nicht ganz nachvollziehen.
    Xvid brauchte für einen Film, bei 2 Durchgänge, ca. 7h 14m.
    Divx brauchte für den selben Film, bei 3 Durchgängen, ca. 7h 33m
    (5h 3m bei 2 Durchgängen). Also war Xvid nicht wirklich schneller.

    Die Settings sind (so gut wie möglich) identisch.
    Welche Log-Files soll ich posten?

    Zumindest wäre das auch bei "ansonsten vergleichbaren Einstellungen" noch längst nicht sicher: Die XviD-Entwickler haben zwar auch erhebliche Optimierungen für bestimmte Prozessor-Klassen eingebaut; dennoch ist das oberste Zeil immer die Qualität gewesen, die wird bei XviD nicht zugunsten der Geschwindigkeit vernachlässigt (außer man wählt die entsprechenden Optionen, wie z.B. "Turbo", kein VHQ, ...).

    Danke... ich habe gerade selber mal div. Tests mit dem CompCheck gemacht. Und versucht die Quali auf 100% und gleiche Einstellungen zu nehmen. Dabei erhalte ich auch die "schönesten" Ergebnisse.

    Da bin ich ja gespannt, was die XviD Jünger für eine Erklärung haben. Auf jeden Fall sehr seltsamm.

    ... dass es sich um "% der Originaldateigröße" und um "bits per pixel & frame" handelt?

    Dann wären die Werte aber höchst unlogisch (so wie das ja schon ab und zu behauptet wurde): Wenn XviD weniger Bits pro Pixel und Frame braucht, dann kann die Komprimierbarkeit doch nicht schlechter werden (größere Prozentzahl als bei DivX)?!

    Aber die Berechnung ist sowieso ziemlich heikel geworden seit GK 0.28 - hier werden ja nun nicht mehr die Statistikdateien ausgewertet (wie noch bis 0.27), sondern die erreichten Frame-Größen in einer tatsächlich geschriebenen AVI-Datei gemessen. Die Ergebnisse müssten dann in einer Datei "vdenc.log" stehen. Ich glaube, die sollte man sich mal mit eigenen Augen anschauen...
